Twenty-seven Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones across thirteen African countries, backed by over $1.1 billion from the African Development Bank and partners. This is the SAPZ initiative, one of the most ambitious efforts to transform Africa’s agricultural potential into real industrial value.
The objective is clear: reduce post-harvest losses, connect farmers to markets, boost productivity and move the continent from raw commodity exports toward value-added processing.
We have long believed that the most compelling agricultural returns in Africa often lie not just in production, but in what happens after harvest; storage, processing, packaging and trade. The SAPZ model creates the infrastructure backbone needed to make that shift possible.
Private sector participation is not just welcomed it is essential.
